Skywalkers overcome Kepco 45 in playoffsThe Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers opened its first round V-League men’s playoff series with a victory after beating Suwon Kepco 45 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20) yesterday.
At Yu Gwan-sun Gymnasium in Cheonan, South Chungcheong, the two-time V-League champion Skywalkers collected an easy win against Kepco 45 in just 79 minutes, thanks to Moon Sung-min, who made 15 points.
Croatian Andjelko Cuk scored 19 points for Kepco 45, but couldn’t fill the void left by four starting players who were kicked out of the league because of a recent match-fixing scandal.
As the first round playoff is a best-of-three series, the Skywalkers are now just one victory away from the next round.
The winner of this series will square off against the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos before playing the Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs in the championships. Game 2 of the series will be held tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Suwon Gymnasium in Gyeonggi.
In the women’s division, the Suwon Hyundai E&C Hillstate beat the Seongnam Korea Expressway Hi-pass Zenith 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) in their playoff series on Saturday. The winner of this best-of-three series will meet the Daejeon Korea Ginseng Corporation in the finals.
