DSME signs deal with Peru’s Ministry of Defense

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), the third-largest shipbuilder in Korea, will make inroads in the South American defense market, following its entry into Europe.

DSME said yesterday, it signed an MOU with Peru’s Ministry of Defense at the headquarters of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) in Seoul.

Its new CEO Ko Jae-ho and Peruvian Defense Minister Luis Alberto Otarola attended the signing ceremony.

Under the MOU, DSME will cooperate with the Peruvian defense ministry to develop technology and produce defense vessels. Lima plans to place large-scale orders for submarines and multi-purposed combat support vessels.
