[Letters] Please be professional, police officers

It really is a sad fact to encounter but it is not a surprising one when I watch Korean films. I’m always surprised that almost all Korean movies depict local police as inefficient and inane. Even in thrillers, rarely are they seen as genuine professionals.

Even though movies are fictional and should not be treated as real, they still somewhat reflect the general consensus of citizens’ perception of the local police.

I’m Korean-born in Paris and I can tell you that knowing both countries, I would rather trust the French police to solve violent issues than the Korean counterpart.

I feel grief-stricken for this girl in Suwon and her family. The very act of police lying about their report is cruel and horrendously disrespectful to those affected by this tragedy. If they cannot learn from their mistakes in such a terrible event, they will never learn. If the police cannot be taught to be better, public safety will be in harm’s way .Thank you for your nice report. I really feel sad.
