KT&G boosts its cigarette market-share in first quarterKT&G, Korea’s largest tobacco company, said yesterday that its market share in the first quarter grew to 62.1 percent thanks to brisk sales of new products including Raison Aero and The One Impact.
That was up 4.8 percentage from the previous quarter, when the company’s market share was 57.3 percent.
This is the biggest hike the company has enjoyed in 14 years.
In the first quarter of 1998, the company’s market share grew 6.4 percentage points from the previous quarter.
KT&G dominated the local market with a market-share of over 90 percent but saw its share drop with the entrance of foreign brands.
