Yi Sun-shin needs a shower

The statue of Admiral Yi Sun-shin is hosed down by Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon and Asan Mayor Bok Gi-wang yesterday in Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno District, central Seoul, in celebration of the 420th anniversary of Korea’s victory in the 1592 Japanese invasion. Admiral Yi, the famed Joseon Dynasty general who fended off Japan’s invasion of the country in the late 16th century, is a native of Asan in South Chungcheong. The statue is cleaned in a joint project between the two cities ahead of the 467th anniversary of the admiral’s birth on the 28th, which will be celebrated with the 51nd Great Admiral Yi Sun-Shin Festival in Asan.
