Hyundai to aid sick children

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation said it would start a program to provide financial aid to children suffering from chronic diseases, according to Hyundai Motor yesterday. The foundation intends to support children from disadvantaged families suffering from cancer, heart disease, leukemia and other various rare diseases.

The foundation signed an MOU with three major hospitals - Seoul National University Hospital, Severance Hospital and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital - and said it would cover treatment and surgery expenses for those children in cooperation with the Korean Society of Cardiology.

It will provide up to 20 million won ($17,540) to a total of 500 children for three years.
