Two versions of LG’s Google TV out in U.S. this month

LG Electronics said yesterday it will release its long-awaited Google TV, an Internet-enabled TV based on Google’s platform, by the end of this month in the United States.

The world’s No. 2 TV maker unveiled the new TV at Internet Week New York, a weeklong tech festival in May.

It said that only a 47-inch and 55-inch version of the product will be available in the U.S. market to begin with, costing $1,700 and $2,300, respectively.

The set runs on Google TV 2.0 OS and has upgraded search capabilities, user interface and apps.

The Google Play app store will also be available, LG said.
