GS Caltex chairman wants company to be global giant

Chairman Hur Dong-soo of GS Caltex said that the company should build up competitiveness to become a leading energy company.

At a celebration to mark the company’s 45th year in operation, the chairman of the nation’s second-largest oil refiner encouraged his employees and CEOs of partner firms to work for a sustainable growth of the company.

“GS Caltex last year built a firm foundation to be a major exporter as we became the second local company to see $20 billion in exports,” said Hur. “Let’s reinforce our competitiveness up to the global standard to leap further to become a global energy company.”

He added that the company will diversify its business to new energy sources including electricity, liquefied natural gas and parts manufacturing for rechargeable batteries.
