After an embarrassing scandal over monks gambling and drinking, colorful lotus lanterns are hung over the court of Jogye Temple in central Seoul yesterday, spelling out a phrase in Korean, “We also will follow Buddha,” which means, “Go back to Buddha’s teachings.” There was a large-scale lantern parade in downtown Seoul Saturday evening to celebrate Buddha’s birthday, which falls on May 28.
