SK Telecom customers to get Voice Talk data usage in bills

SK Telecom, the nation’s largest mobile carrier, has added “voice calls on data service” to its monthly billing list so subscribers know how much data they have used. The move comes after Koreans’ favorite mobile messenger service, KakaoTalk, introduced a mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (mVoIP) called Voice Talk.

The new service came as the mobile carrier reorganized its monthly charges amid the rapid spread of the free voice call service which was launched earlier this month on a trial basis. SK Telecom and two other carriers have been complaining that Voice Talk is eating into their profits.

“As there has been a flood of inquiries about how to use Voice Talk, we decided to notify people of the amount of data they use,” said an SK Telecom spokesman.
