LG rules the roost in terms of LTE technology patentsLG Electronics, the country’s No. 2 mobile phone maker, is the world’s top possessor of technology patents related to the fourth-generation long-term evolution (LTE) network, a report showed Monday.
Of the 187 LTE essential patents that applied for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by the second quarter of this year, LG eclipsed all other players in its number of applications, according to the report by the technology and intellectual property research firm TechIPm.
Finnish mobile giant Nokia ranked second, while Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest maker of mobile phones, came next.
