Contemporary art museum earns award

“Dansaekhwa: Korean Monochrome Painting,” which was held from mid-March to mid-May at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Provided by the museum
A Korean art museum has earned the rare honor of a major international award for the design of an exhibition. The National Museum of Contemporary Art said on Monday that it has won the Red Dot Award for communication design for “Dansaekhwa: Korean Monochrome Painting.”
The exhibition, held from mid-March to mid-May, arranged partitions elaborately and used walls with windows in some corners to allow for varying perspectives on the art depending on the viewer’s position.
Together, the works on display traced Korean monochrome abstract paintings from the 1970s to the present.
The award will be presented in Germany on Oct. 24.
