Employees at E-Mart’s Yongsan branch in central Seoul arrange ramen and beer before their prices soared on July 29. The price of ramen and beer increased as the price of flour, palm oil, malt and barley, main ingredients of both items, shot up. Samyang Food raised the price of its flagship Samyang Ramen from 700 won ($0.62) to 770 won last Wednesday while Hite Jinro raised its half-liter Hite beer from 1,019 won to 1,079 won on July 28.
