[Letters] Looking forward to another historic moment

As the Korea JoongAng Daily reported in its Olympic coverage yesterday, Korean football team’s marvelous victory parade continues on the home turf of the powerful sport. After defeating England in a down-to-the-wire penalty shootout in the quarterfinals, our team is poised to battle with the football juggernaut Brazil at 3:45 a.m. tomorrow KST.

Regardless of the results of tomorrow’s match, however, we must compliment our Olympic football coach Hong Myung-bo on his awesome leadership in helping players believe in themselves. Though still lacking a critical skill of decisive finish and unforgivably frequent misplays of top striker Park Chu-young at critical moments, Korean team nevertheless played wonderful games against Mexico, Switzerland and Gabon in Group B matches.

The amazing feat will hopefully be played out in tomorrow’s historic semifinal match against Brazil and again with Japan after it wins against Mexico. So the two Asian teams will play in the final match. I look forward to yet another astonishing victory by coach Hong’s Taegeuk Warriors against the country across the East Sea.
