[Letters] Backward political culture must change first

As the Korea JoongAng Daily pointed out in its Thursday editorial, there is a long way to go before Korea can join the ranks of developed nations. Despite our presidents’ repeated pledge to end the ceaseless corruption among their relatives and aides, particularly at the end of their terms, this malaise - along with broken morality among high-ranking officials in the cabinet and the legislature - shows no sign of ending even under the current administration. If we really want to advance to a greater state, our backward political culture, above all, must change.

Kang Hiok, a student at Konkuk University
