Amore Pacific launches high-end brand in Singapore

Amore Pacific, Korea’s largest cosmetics maker, has started selling its high-end herbal cosmetics brand Sulwhasoo at Tangs Department Store in Singapore, the company said yesterday.

The outlet, with opened on the first floor of the city state’s oldest department store on Saturday, offers visitors one-on-one skincare consulting, the company said.

After it first branched out overseas in Hong Kong in 2004, Amore Pacific now has 18 Sulwhasoo outlets in four countries, including Parkson Department Store in Beijing and Bergdorf Goodman in New York.

Amore Pacific CEO Suh Kyung-bae aims to catapult the company from being the 16th-biggest cosmetics maker to world No. 7 by 2020 with annual sales of 11 trillion won ($ 9.7 billion), almost half deriving from overseas.

To make that happen, Sulwhasoo is scheduled to enter the Taiwanese and Thai markets this year. It will also open stores in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines by 2015, it said.
