LG Twins officially out of playoffs for decade

The LG Twins have officially failed to make the postseason for the 10th straight season despite winning on Monday night, deepening its reputation as one of the worst-performing franchises in Korean sports.
It is the first time in Korea Baseball Organization history that a team has failed to advance to the four-team playoffs for 10 straight seasons. The KBO has eight ball clubs.
The seventh-place Twins’ hopes for a top-four finish were dashed by their Seoul rivals, the Doosan Bears, who beat the bottom-place Hanwha Eagles 2-1 on Monday.
With the victory over the Eagles, the Bears are tied for third place with the Lotte Giants and have a 10-game lead over the Twins as of yesterday afternoon. LG had only nine games left before wrapping up their 133-game pennant campaign.
The Twins boast the biggest fan base among the four teams based in and nearby the capital. Last year, Chaebul.com, a local business survey Web site, estimated the Twins’ economic value at 293.2 billion won ($262 million), the second most valued club in the KBO.
