Bluewings best Seoul once again in 1-0 bout

The Suwon Bluewings once again displayed their edge over cross-town rivals FC Seoul, beating them 1-0 in a K-League match Wednesday night and snapping the league leaders’ five-game winning streak.

Oh Jang-eun scored the winner in the 50th minute in the match held at Suwon World Cup Stadium, south of Seoul. With the win, the Bluewings jumped one notch to third place, passing the Ulsan Tigers.

It was Suwon’s seventh straight win against Seoul since August 2010, including FA Cup matches. Seoul is now four points ahead of the runner-up Jeonbuk Motors, who drew 2-2 with Busan I’Park on Wednesday.

The Motors will seek to narrow the gap with Seoul when it plays a home match against Pohang on Sunday.

The two teams are even at 1-1 in the two showdowns early this season. Seoul will play Gyeongnam FC on Sunday while Suwon will meet Busan on Saturday. Ulsan’s next match is on Monday against Jeju United.
