U.S. announces new coaches after scandal
KEARNS, Utah - U.S. Speedskating has appointed a 1994 Olympian and coaches who helped develop Apolo Anton Ohno and top Canadian athletes to take over until a scandal within the short-track program is sorted. The federation announced Monday that Pat Wentland and Stephen Gough will work with National Racing Program skaters headed to the World Cup events in autumn.
The coaching changes follow news last week that Chun Jae-su and assistant Yeo Jun-hyung are both suspended for failing to report skate tampering by Simon Cho. Both coaches and Cho face disciplinary action.
