Kim Bi-o takes KGT money title with just three events

Kim Bi-o has made Korea Professional Golf Tour history by winning the money title with the least number of events played, according to the domestic men’s tour yesterday.

After the season finale Windsor Classic wrapped up on Sunday, Kim, 22, was atop the money rankings at a combined 444 million won ($405,127) from only three events.

He won the SK Telecom Open and GS Caltex Maekyung Open, both in May, and finished fourth at the Charity Hi 1 Resort Open last month. Kim, who focused this season on the OneAsia Tour and a second-tier tour of the PGA called the WebTour, only played in the three KGT events this year.

He eclipsed Kim Kyung-tae, who took the money title last year by collecting 451.8 million won from five events.

Kim Dae-sub, who won twice in his brief comeback, finished second for the season at 398.5 million won. Kim, 31, who was discharged from compulsory military service in August, won the Kolon Korean Open early this month and the Dongbu Promy Open last month.

Lee Sang-hee, 20, who competed in all 13 season events and raked in 254 million won, took the Grand Prix Award for the most points, 2,995, while Kim Meen-whee, 20, won the Rookie of the Year award at 707 points.
