Doosan Heavy adds Britain’s Enpure to list of acquisitions

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, Korea’s leading power equipment maker, said yesterday it has acquired British water treatment company Enpure in a bid to strengthen its desalination business.

Enpure, established in early 1970, provides process engineering solutions for the energy, water, solid waste and industrial sectors, and posted sales of 100 billion won ($91.7 million) in 2011.

It has key technology and patents for its dissolved air flotation and dual media filter, Doosan Heavy said. The Korean company said the takeover will help it emerge as a global leader in the water treatment and desalination sector.
