The British Embassy in Seoul will begin accepting applications for its renowned Chevening scholarships, which cover one year of tuition and fees for postgraduate study in U.K., from 2013-14, as well as a monthly stipend and round-trip airfare.
The program is funded by the British government.
Eligible applicants must be Korean nationals, including North Korean defectors, the embassy said.
In addition to completing applications, candidates need to submit certificates of their undergraduate degree, academic transcripts and two references to the British Embassy in Seoul by 5 p.m. on Jan. 2.
Since the scholarship program started in 1983, more than 41,000 people from 116 countries - including about 1,100 Koreans - have studied in Britain.
Application forms and guidance are available at www.chevening.org/apply.
