[Letters] What Obama and Park Geun-hye have in common

It seems to me that, despite coming from different backgrounds, U.S. President Barack Obama and Ms. Park Geun-hye have some things in common. Both Obama and Park have faced hints of discrimination: Obama faced subtle racism just as Park Geun-hye seems to be faced with hints of sexism.

Furthermore, President Obama was faced with unfair doubts about his past, running for office in the wake of an unpopular president. Park Geun-hye seems to be faced with similar challenges. However, Obama, with the foresight and support of a fair-minded electorate, overcame those challenges and won the presidency.

The reputations of both the presidency and the country were restored. The world was inspired by his example. Perhaps Park Geun-hye can also silence her doubters and, with the support of Korea’s fair-minded voters, follow Obama’s successful example.
