Hotel Shilla closing main building for renovationHotel Shilla said on Friday it plans to close its main building for six months from January for renovations. Duty-free shops, which are operated in a separate building, will stay open.
The restaurants and event halls in the main building will also be closed.
“Rooms and bathrooms have become out of date as it’s been over 30 years since the hotel building was constructed,” said an employee at the hotel’s communications team.
“We are only doing renovation work within the building. We won’t change the exterior.”
The spokesperson said a start date for the renovation work has not yet been decided.
Yeong Bin Gwan, a separate building for conferences and events, will also be closed due to the possible noise pollution. The building was overhauled in 2010.
