Giants trade pitcher for Eagles sluggerThe Lotte Giants, suffering from the loss of two heavy hitters in recent free agent deals, yesterday acquired a veteran slugger from the Hanwha Eagles.
Jang Sung-ho, 35, was acquired in exchange for pitcher Song Chang-hyun, 23, a third-round pick in the 2013 season draft.
Jang has a career .297 batting percentage with 216 homers, 2,007 hits and 1,000 RBI. Last season with the Eagles, he hit .263 with 52 RBI, 112 hits and nine homers.
The Giants have focused on bolstering pitching under new manager Kim Si-jin, but free agents Hong Sung-heon, 36, and Kim Joo-chan, 31, signed with the Doosan Bears and Kia Tigers, respectively.
