January: The hotel’s Japanese restaurant Hanazono will serve Japanese osechi, or New Year cuisine.
Osechi is traditional Japanese food eaten by families as they celebrate the New Year.
Osechi consists of prawns cooked in special sauce, burdock, lotus root, kelp rolls, chestnuts and herring roe and each dish has its own special meaning. Prices vary from 100,000 to 200,000 won ($94-$188), depending on the dish. Reservations are required.

January: Welcoming the New Year, the Imperial Palace Seoul offers discounts at many of its restaurants. Casual all-you-can eat Cafe Amiga offers a 20 percent discount during the month of January for any party of 10 or more.
The price for the lunch buffet is 56,500 won for adults and 28,250 won for children, and 68,000 won for adults and 34,000 won for children for the dinner buffet.
At Buffet Familia, a 15 percent discount is given to a party of 10 or more. The buffet restaurant has about 140 different items. The regular price for adults is 68,000 won and 35,000 won for children during weekdays.

Starting Saturday: Renaissance Seoul Hotel’s buffet restaurant Cafe Elysee holds a promotion which provides a free meal to child guests every weekend starting this Saturday.
Children under 12 can eat free lunch or dinner every weekend. Conditions are applied, though. One child per one adult and up to two children are allowed to eat for free.
For young guests, Cafe Elysee also newly launched a candy station where 22 different candies and jellies are available.
