HHI embarks on greener plants to reduce carbon footprint
Hyundai Heavy Industries has started building more environmentally friendly factories. The world’s largest shipbuilder said yesterday it has installed a total of 2,065 kilowatts of solar power systems at four plants nationwide.Including its wind- and solar -power factories in Gunsan, North Jeolla and Eumseong, North Chungcheong, the shipbuilder has also set up solar-power systems at the main entrance of its headquarters in Ulsan.
HHI has been accelerating efforts to cut emissions and increase the use of renewable energy within its workplaces recently. It expects to save 850 million won ($780,500) a year by switching over the cleaner forms of energy.
