Samsung, LG display arms agree to resolve patent dispute
The heads of the world’s biggest display makers, Samsung Display and LG Display, agreed yesterday to resolve their patent dispute through dialogue in an effort to keep the legal tussle from escalating.
The two companies, affiliates of the country’s biggest electronics firms Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, have been embroiled in a patent suit over display technology as they race to bolster market leadership.
Samsung Display and LG Display are currently involved in four litigations over display technology patents.
Following a meeting at a downtown Seoul hotel, Samsung Display chief Kim Ki-nam said the company plans to “resolve the issue one by one.”
