Today and Tomorrow: The Chicago Symphony Orchestra will hold its first concert in Korea under the baton of Lorin Mazzel.
The orchestra was to have been conducted by Riccardo Muti, who withdrew due to health reasons. For the first concert, the orchestra will play Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No.5 in F Major, Op.76” and Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No.2 in D Major, Op.73.” On the second day, the orchestra will play Verdi Overture, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3.
The concert starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets range from 70,000 won to 360,000 won.

Feb. 17: Adam Lambert, who was runner-up on “American Idol” three years ago, is heading to Seoul. The singer released his second studio album, “Trespassing,” in May. He is often compared to Lady Gaga for bizarre performances on stage, and the show will only admit those age 19 and up.
The concert starts at 7 p.m.

The orchestra will play “My Country” Nos. 1-4, symphonic poems by Smetana and “The Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G minor, Op. 33” by Dvorak.

Feb. 20 to April 21: The original novel by Alexandre Dumas has been recreated into an astonishing musical. After its first performances in 2009, it came back with star-studded cast including Yeeun of the Wonder Girls, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and 2AM’s Changmin.

Feb. 16 and 17: Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra is holding a performance using the gayageum, a traditional Korean zither-like instrument with 12 strings. The story begins as 7-year-old Miru hears about her new baby brother and follows her emotional experiences through the pregnancy.

LEE JA-RAM’S UKCHUK-GA

Feb. 23 and 24: “Ukchuk-ga” is a pansori (narrative singing) show inspired by Brecht’s “The Mother Courage and Her Children.” It tells the story of how a devastating war provokes fear, sorrow and sympathy.
Each of the 15 characters has a different voice and personality, but Lee Ja-ram nails each perfectly. Lee has also been invited to perform at the Theatre National Populaire in France and the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj in Romania.
The concert starts at 5 p.m.
