Samsung Engineering said it won its first order of the year, from Iraq. The company said it signed a $879 million contract with Gazprom Neft, a subsidiary of Gazprom, one of Russia’s largest oil and gas companies, to build a gas separation plant. Samsung will be responsible for building the central processing facility and the utilities and off-site facility within 35 months at the Badra oil field in Wasit Province, southeastern Iraq. The Gazprom-led consortium will include Korea Gas Corporation, Malaysia’s Petronas and Turkey’s TPAO. The plant is expected to produce 170,000 barrels of oil per day by 2017.
