Sungnyemun, Korea’s National Treasure No. 1 that was destroyed in an arson attack five years ago, was unveiled to the media yesterday. The Cultural Heritage Administration said the restoration is 96 percent complete, and the gate - also known as Namdaemun (or Southern Gate) - will open to the public in April. The restoration of Seoul’s oldest wooden structure, which was built in 1396, was delayed by five months due to harsh weather conditions. [NEWSIS]
