Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to hire defectorsHyundai Heavy Industries, the largest shipbuilder in the country, will hire North Korean defectors this month for the first time in its history, the company said yesterday.
HHI said it will give extra points to candidates from North Korea in its entry-level recruitment this year. Those who want to apply can download required documents until March 15 from the homepage of the company.
Separately from the recruitment, HHI will accept North Korean defectors who want to learn shipbuilding technology at its tech training institute.
The 41-year-old institute is recognized by engineers for the quality of its education programs. The company will provide free meals and dormitory rooms for North Korean applicants in order to give them an opportunity to become capable technicians in the South.
