SK Engineering gushing over $160 million Mideast oil job

SK Engineering & Construction said yesterday it landed a $160 million contract to build a main gather center for oil in the Wafra field, a neutral zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The affiliate of SK Group said it secured the project in an engineering, procurement and construction contract. The order was issued by Wafra Joint Operations, a venture of Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and Saudi Arabian Chevron.

The project involves upgrading oil facilities in the neutral zone. SK E&C will replace or set up new pipelines and other systems such as heater and coolers. The builder said construction will begin next month and finish by September 2015.
