An abstract legend
A room of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, contains abstract paintings by Youn Myeung-ro, including the 13.3 meter (43.6-foot) “Anonymous Land 9`630”(1991) on the left. They are part of a retrospective for the 77-year-old artist, who was one of the most active Korean avant-garde artists in the 1960s and has dedicated to his life to abstract paintings. The exhibition shows his 50-year career chronologically with about 60 paintings made from the 1960s to last year. The exhibition runs through June 23.
