Cheil Industries celebrates shipment of Amoled displays

Cheil Industries, a textile and chemical subsidiary of Samsung, yesterday celebrated the first shipment of next generation active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (Amoled) displays.

A ceremony at the electronics materials plant in Gumi was attended by 300 employees and representatives of partner companies, as well as the Cheil Industries CEO Park Jong-woo and Vice President Lee Seo-hyun.

The company embarked on the development of OLED in 2009 and established an OLED material production factory in March 2011 by investing 20 billion won ($180 million) in the electronic materials plant in Gumi. The OLED material shipped by Cheil Industries will be used in Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S4.
