Cheil Industries celebrates shipment of Amoled displays
Cheil Industries, a textile and chemical subsidiary of Samsung, yesterday celebrated the first shipment of next generation active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (Amoled) displays.A ceremony at the electronics materials plant in Gumi was attended by 300 employees and representatives of partner companies, as well as the Cheil Industries CEO Park Jong-woo and Vice President Lee Seo-hyun.
The company embarked on the development of OLED in 2009 and established an OLED material production factory in March 2011 by investing 20 billion won ($180 million) in the electronic materials plant in Gumi. The OLED material shipped by Cheil Industries will be used in Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S4.
