Hyundai Heavy Industries unveils high power Himsen
Hyundai Heavy Industries said yesterday it has developed a 35,300-horsepower medium-speed engine named Himsen, which means “powerful” in Korean.The country’s No.1 shipmaker received classification-type approval after passing operational tests at nine societies, including DNV in Norway and ABS in the United States.
The engine is suitable for marine generation, propulsion and land-based power generating systems. The newest Himsen engine has more than double the horsepower of its predecessor.
The Himsen engine was introduced in 2000, and HHI has exported 7,200 to 40 countries.
