Hyundai Motor Group passes milestone in overseas sales
Hyundai Motor Group said yesterday that the combined overseas sales of Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors have surpassed 50 million units.The nation’s largest automotive group made the announcement after a shipment of Hyundai’s models like Tucson, Avante (Elantra in overseas), i30 and Genesis to the United States from the port of Ulsan.
The milestone was achieved 38 years after Kia shipped 10 Brisa pickups to Qatar. Hyundai exported six Ponys to Ecuador a year later.
The combined overseas sales of two automakers surpassed 10 million units in 2001 and 20 million in 2006. The 30 million overseas sales mark was done in 2009 and 40 million in 2011.
