Kumho Tires to supply tread for electric-only vehicles
Kumho Tires said yesterday it will supply electric vehicle-only tires to Renault Samsung Motors (RSM), the automaker that is set to sell a compact electric vehicle called the SM3 Z.E. from the second half of this year.The nation’s second-largest tire manufacturer said in a release that its “Wattrun” branded tires will be solely supplied to RSM’s SM3 Z.E. production from October through 2018. The company, which is under Kumho Asiana Group, said that it spent two years to develop the electric vehicle-only tires.
The tiremaker said its Wattrun tires will have low rolling resistance as well as noise. But at the same time it focused on high intensity and light weight.
