LG U+ last on bandwagon for unlimited intra-carrier calls

LG U+ yesterday unveiled new mobile packages for smartphones that offer unlimited calls among its users, becoming the last among three Korean carriers to do so.

SK Telecom and KT introduced the measure late last month. Text messages are free for subscribers of new packages from all three carriers.

The basic monthly fee starts at 34,000 won ($30) and allows unlimited calls among LG U+ users and 110 minutes of calls to other mobile networks. A monthly fee of 52,000 won includes 195 minutes of phone calls with SKT and KT users.

What differentiates LG U+ from the other two is that it will allow unlimited voice calls across all carriers for a base fee of between 69,000 won and 124,000 won per month.

There is a data limit according to different subscription packages. Those paying 69,000 won get 5 gigabytes per month, compared to 16 gigabytes for 99,000 won. But extremely heavy users can get unlimited calls and data for 124,000 won.
