New warranty protects tires from Kumho


Kumho Tires launched a warranty program to give back to drivers.

Kumho Tires strives to be socially responsible in unique ways. The company launched the Mileage Warranty System in consideration of car owners’ safety and financial burden. The service, which is the first of its kind in the industry, began on April 1. Drivers in Korea will especially benefit when road conditions are bad.

It guarantees the integrity of tires as they are worn by braking and sudden stops. When the tire surface is worn beyond its abrasion limit of 1.6 millimeters (0.06 inches), the company compensates owners if there is a gap between actual and guaranteed mileage.

“With the new mileage warranty system, our tires will be considered more reliable and satisfy more drivers. We adopted this service by taking into account the current economic situation and our clients’ spending habits,” said Shin Yong-sik, the executive director. “We hope to give back to our customers via this warranty service in two ways. We would like to raise awareness about the importance of tire maintenance like maintain proper pressure and rotation. Most significantly, it will benefit customers by reducing costs.”

The service is available at all Kumho Tires stores. To be eligible, customers must have their tires checked and rotated every 10,000 kilometers. They must also register on the company’s Web site.
