International air passengers really take off in first quarter

Korea’s international air passenger volume in this first quarter reached a record high, with 12.51 million flying into or out of the country.

According to data released by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, international air traffic volume jumped 10 percent year-on-year. Passengers to and from China jumped 14.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, while passengers to and from Southeast Asian countries increased 13.8 percent.

The ministry said 65.9 percent of international passengers used flights from Korean flag carriers.
