Daewoo Engineering & Construction said yesterday that it will do the integral designing of a Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power research reactor and related facilities. The nation’s third-largest builder will receive a total of 18.64 billion won ($16 million) after 48 months of designing a 20-megawatt research reactor, which is primarily used for radioisotope production for research and medical engineering study purposes.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power plans to export this research reactor in the future.
Daewoo E&C earned a reputation for designing research reactors in 2009 after it formed a consortium with state-run Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute and secured an order from the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission.
