GS Caltex’s CEO jumps on creative economy bandwagon

GS Caltex, the nation’s second-largest refiner, celebrated its 46 anniversary yesterday as Vice Chairman and CEO Huh Jin-soo urged the company to have ambitions to become a leading global company.

Huh, who is younger brother of GS Group Chairman Huh Chang-soo, said that the company has been developing world-class technologies like vacuum gas oil fluidized catalytic cracking, and contributed to the nation’s economy.

However, Huh said that the company should think from a “zero base” again and question whether its past innovations can be still considered innovations today.

The 60-year-old CEO urged the company to develop creativeness, professionalism and the power of execution to have a sustainable business.

“Three aspects - environmental safety control, communications and shared growth - should be implemented to have sustainable growth,” Huh said yesterday at GS Tower in Seoul.
