More part-time jobs for all?

The Park Geun-hye administration unveiled an ambitious plan to raise the overall employment rate to 70 percent by 2017. The keystone to the strategy is to reduce work hours of employees on permanent payrolls to make more secure part-time jobs for others. The plan has been lauded by some as the optimal direction in view of supply and demand conditions in the labor market and criticized by others as a mere toying with numbers.
