Hyundai, Kia and Benz get equal scores in quality studyHyundai Motor and Kia Motors tied for 10th place in the J.D. Power and Associates’ 2013 Initial Quality Study, Hyundai Motor Group said yesterday.
Korea’s top two automakers received a score of 106, tied with Mercedes-Benz and seven points below the industry average. The study scores 33 auto brands on the number of problems per hundred vehicles and a lower number signifies a better rating.
The company said the Hyundai Genesis was No. 1 in the midsize premium vehicle segment, while Kia Soul was the top compact MPV and the Sportage R the top subcompact CUV. This is the first time Hyundai-Kia won three segments.
Meanwhile, Hyundai’s Accent, Sonata and Azera (Grandeur) ranked second in their respective segments and the all-new Santa Fe ranked third in its segment. ?
