Hyundai Motor’s truck plant will go to double day shifts
Hyundai Motor said yesterday its Jeonju Plant has agreed to adopt two daytime shifts. The truck assembly factory was Hyundai’s last holdout against two daytime shifts. Unlike the bus manufacturing line, truck line workers at the Jeonju plant only worked in single shift.
Although the labor union and management are negotiating details, the automaker expects that the start of two daytime shifts will increase its truck production from 60,000 units to 100,000 units in a year. It also expects to add 1,000 jobs.
