Samsung C&T consortium gets $204.3 million Thai project

Samsung C&T, the construction arm of Samsung Group, said yesterday its consortium has won a $204.3 million project from Thailand’s PTT Public Company to expand Khao Bo Ya LPG Terminal.

Samsung will collect $155.4 million since it has 76.1 percent stake of the consortium with Italian-Thai Development.

The project aims to build tanks and facilities at Khao Bo Ya LPG Terminal in Chon Buri to increase capacity from 132,000 tons to 250,000 tons per month. The construction is expected to be completed by November 2015.

Samsung C&T said its experience in energy facility construction helped to seal the deal.

It previously secured LPG tank and terminal construction projects in Qatar and Singapore.

The builder also hopes to create synergy with Whessoe, a British company specializing in designing gas storage tanks and related facilities. Samsung C&T acquired Whessoe in March.
