Choi steers Jeonbuk to victory over Pohang

Former national football coach Choi Kang-hee steered the Jeonbuk Motors to a second straight K-League Classic victory since his return, beating the league-leading Pohang Steelers, 2-0, on Sunday.

Park Hee-do and Lee Dong-gook scored in the first nine minutes at Pohang Steelyard, helping the visitors leapfrog the Suwon Bluewings into fifth place. It was Lee’s 11th goal of the season, and the sixth since his comeback from Korea’s successful bid to qualify for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

The Steelers stayed a point clear of runner-up Ulsan Hyundai after Ulsan was held to a scoreless draw by the Bluewings at Suwon World Cup Stadium.

Elsewhere on Sunday, FC Seoul routed 10-man Seongnam Chunma 3-0 at home, on goals from Park Hee-seong, Molina and Yun Il-lok, as the defending champion moved within nine points of the Steelers. Seoul sits in the ninth place.
