Korea’s Gyeongju and Turkey’s Istanbul are both ancient cities full of cultural heritage. And now, both will co-host an exhibition of 180 works by eight leading Korean photographers, being held in Istanbul starting at the end of this month.

The exhibition, titled “On Korea - Beyond the Silk Road,” is part of the Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2013, which runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 22.

Works by Koo Bohnchang, Oh Hein-kuhn, Kim Jung-man and more will be on display at the Taksim Republic Art Gallery in Istanbul.

“The works include photos of contemporary Koreans, the remains of the ancient Silla kingdom in Gyeongju and the DMZ,” said Seok Jae-hyun, photographer and curator of the exhibition.
