Got milk money?
A consumer warily chooses milk at a market in Yongsan, central Seoul, yesterday. Despite pressure from the government and consumer groups, dairy companies have decided to push forward with price hikes. Starting today, one liter (0.26 gallons) of ESL milk from Maeil Dairy will cost 2,550 won ($0.28), up from 2,300 won yesterday, a 10.6 percent increase. Market leader Seoul Milk and Dongbu F&B will follow suit starting tomorrow. One liter of Seoul Milk will be 10.9 percent more at 2,550 won. Dongwon F&B’s 900-millimeter milk (0.24 gallons) will be 8.2 percent higher at 2,650 won. Consumer groups plan to hold protests at Lotte Mart’s Seoul branch. [NEWSIS]
